warm seats .

today, after running for the bus (which was luckily not that full), i was able to find myself a seat after a long day of stressing over a science exam that ended up being postponed.

i sat down.

the seat was warm. 

uncomfortably warm. 

a freshly-bum-sat-on kind of warm. 

and i couldn't stop thinking about all the bum germs that were on that seat for the entire ride home. 

... oh the joys of public transport.

burning the midnight oil .

"burning the midnight oil" means to work/study late into the night.

BUT WHERE IN THE WORLD DID THIS SAYING COME FROM .

WELL MY CHILDRENS . in the olden times of hidden ankles and corsets, there was no electricity, apart from the sunshine in the day time , and a bit of moonlight, their only other forms of light were from candles or oil lamps.

so, if you (like me) are staying up late to study because you have a science exam tomorrow and you forgot everything about the human body, and if you lived in the 1630's , .... except if you lived in the 1630's , you'd still think that the brain is grey . (because back then they wanted to learn more about the human body, but since they didn't have the expertise to cut open LIVING bodies, they cut up deceased ones, but because they were already dead the brains, no longer had blood, so they were grey. WHICH IS WHY YOUR BRAIN IS SOMETIMES CALLED GREY MATTER.)

but anyway, if you DID live in the 1630's , YOU my friend would be studying late by an oil lamp light . hence the saying , "burning midnight oil".

but thanks to thomas edison, we have lights powered by electricity and computers for midnight procrastination so we can write and waffle about pointless things , on a pointless blog that no one reads .

well then, GOODBYE SLEEP . hello to dark circles, eyebags to be and lots and lots of tea and coffee .

when other people start to like it too ...

i've always found it puzzling when sometimes people get upset or annoyed when others start to like the things that they like. 

so let's say you have a friend (LET'S CALL HER BOB) who has been a fan of ... uh ... THE BAND OF BANANA SKINS , for quite some while now.  she always talk about it , and complains about how no one thinks that they make good music , and how they don't understand how everyone does not love them already .

then, your other friend (LET'S CALL HER GERTRUDE) starts listening to one of THE BAND OF BANANA SKINS songs and realises that she also think that they are awesome. then everyone else in your group starts to listen to their music and ALSO thinks that they are awesome . 

 

so you would think that BOB is happy about this ? excited that she can now talk to her friends about how awesome THE BAND OF BANANA SKINS are ? 

apparently not ? instead she is annoyed how everyone likes it all of a sudden and they don't appreciate her when she said it first, but now it's all the hype ! ... ? 

shouldn't we be happy that our friends now share similar interests ? now we can ALL talk about how awesome it is, and not just leave bob talking about their new song by herself!

wow that was a bad example . 

BUT COME ON , who WOULDN'T like the band of banana skins , if it was a band ?

a daily morning .

1 . hears alarm .  alarm = snoozed .
2 . snooze button is pressed repeatedly
3 . ARGHAGAH. i'm late ... again . (restocks tinytower)
4 . my hair looks like a greasy slimeball .
5 . can't find tights . WHERE ARE MY TIGHTS ?
6 . raids through sister's wardrobe .
7 . half dressed and really tired , i decide to have a two minute nap on my bed .
8 . i wake up ten minutes later ...
9 . brush my teeth and wash DA FACE .
10 . discovesr a new pimple on the face .
11 . blowdry my fringe .
12 . ponytail time !
13 . grab some toast .
14 . RUN OUT THE DOOR .
15 . driven down to the bustop .
16 . see my bus driving pass ...
17 . sad face
18 . contemplate running after it .
19 . re-stock my tinytower
20 . waits for the next bus :(

and that is why i am always late .
